PI UK was founded as The PROFIBUS Group in 1993 to promote the use of PROFIBUS in the UK. More recently it has added PROFINET, IO-Link, MTP, NOA and omlox, the world’s first positioning standard for industry, to the range of technologies supported by the group and is now known as PROFIBUS and PROFINET International UK, or PIUK for short.
Registered in the UK as a Trade Association, PIUK is run by a Steering Committee elected by its members. It is not a limited company and hence has no company registration number, but it is fully accountable within the UK and is VAT registered, number GB 643240662.
Chris McComb has served as the Chairman of PIUK since 2022. He is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the group and acts as the primary liaison with PI organisations worldwide. As Chairman, he serves as the central point of contact for marketing, membership, events and administrative matters. He leads the Executive and Steering Committees and, during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) each year, defines the group’s direction with the support and endorsement of all members.
Peter Thomas has held the position of Vice Chairman of the Training Centres Working Group since 2016. In this capacity, he leads the group responsible for defining the learning outcomes of all PI-Certified training courses and establishing the framework that all PI-Certified Training Centres (PITC’s) worldwide are required to follow.
